organized chaos

my husband ed lovingly refers to me as 'organized chaos'. meaning at any given time, I can locate the most random of things in the most obscure places, which are unseen to his naked eye. lost scrap piece of paper? of course it's tucked safely away in that unmarked envelope in the junk drawer. kids eyeglass screwdriver? why wouldn't it be where it's supposed to be in my makeup bag in the closet? it's really a gift genetically given to me by my dear grandmother. so when she passed away this winter, I took it upon myself to carry her torch of saving everything. which now has left us with half her house in our basement. (I mean look at this vintage typewriter treasure I found buried in her bonus room, ironically under a desk! and don't even get me started on the stash of 80s esprit clothes)  

marriage is about compromise, well most of the time on my end lol. so now that the kids are back in school, I have made a vow to clear some of the "alleged" chaos. I figured if I set the intention out to the universe here, I can be more accountable. I do own a copy of the life changing magic of tidying up by marie kondo, which I bought three years ago in an attempt to stay on top of clutter while moving, but never read. while I am optimistic there is hope to become better at this decluttering, I guarantee you will never find me in an 'I heart cleaning' tshirt. (on a side note, I did really chat with a few ladies this week who said they 'loved' to clean and organize and what floor products they prefer. I may not be invited back to that group as I'm more of the rose' all day, discuss beauty products kind of gal group anyways). the goal is also to eventually open my vintage shop on the blog.
