happy summer solstice! this is one of my favorite pictures of my grandparents circa 1940s at the beach in chicago. they loved summertime almost as much as each other. because there's something magical in this season....the air, the sun, the water.  it's about bathing suits and best friends,  roadtrips and rain days at the movies, popsicles and painted toes, fireflies and first love. my best childhood moments were spent in summer, especially with my best friend & first love who became my husband.
